There’s no such thing as stress!

Haha! JUST KIDDING!

Stress is inevitable.

You can’t run away from it, that would just cause more stress!

But there are ways you can cope with it.

For many, school is starting, you’re going back to work. You might even be dreading the oncoming flu season because let’s be real, when you have a ton of kids together, in one room, it tends to be a disgusting nightmare of germs being spread EVERYWHERE! (Stay tuned for some natural herbal remedies to combat that sick season).

Not only that, but this time of year comes holidays, last minute vacations, and all the end of the year fun!

STRESS STRESS STRESS

Here are ways to cope with stress in a healthy manner.

The first step is to BREATHE.

Yes, easier said than done, but you can do it. The world is not ending and everything does not have to be done all at once.

The second step is to take a second and pray.

Journal your prayers, thoughts and ideas and allow HIM to carry all your worries and burdens. Journaling has great healing power as it can help unload your brain and lift you up mentally. You can choose any journal, or you can grab a copy of my newly designed journal! Choose from the digital version where you can just print from your home computer and choose whichever paper and how many sheets you want, or the physical version that can be purchased through Amazon.

The third thing you can do to help cope with the stress is to take a bath!

Yes, take a bath. I’m not telling you that you stink. Though you just might, I don’t know.

But take a bath and use our Magnesium Bath Soaks. Magnesium baths offer many health benefits and is easily absorbed through the skin. It is a well known mineral to help reduce stress, relax and relieve body and muscle aches, reduce inflammation, and alleviate pain and stiffness in the joints. Not only that, but since it is so easily absorbed through the skin, it can help promote better sleep and calm the nervous system. Especially our Destress & Refresh Soak thanks to our essential blend of lavender and chamomile essential oils which are also therapeutic grade oils.

While taking your bath, you can also use our matching sugar scrub! This scrub is AMAZING because it also doubles as a soap! So no leaving you feeling like you also have to use our matching soap if you don’t want to.

The fourth thing you can do to help alleviate stress is taking a tincture, drinking herbal teas, and consuming what God has grown.

My Ashwagandha Tincture is a great one for stress. This herb is an adaptogenic meaning it has the ability to reduce stress and anxiety. It helps regulate cortisol levels and overall mental well-being. This tincture was my absolute favorite and go to for the postpartum period. It helps regulate the hormones and helps when those dips in depression, anxiety and/or rage come along.

Astragulus is a great one as well as it also is an adaptogenic and can help increase resistance and resilience to stress. Other herbs that are great are valerian root, chamomile, lemon balm, lavender, and holy basil. There are several herbs that can help relieve stress, but what I listed are at my top favorites!

Our natural tinctures can only be found in store at Muskegon Market & Mercantile and when we have our pop ups at craft shows so be sure to follow our socials to stay in the know when those happen!

The fifth and last thing you can do to help your stress is to take a walk.

Get out in nature, listen to God’s animals, feel His earth, and meditate on all that he has given so far. Getting out in the fresh air, taking in the sun and touching the earth has great benefits.

Science shows that getting outside helps reduce cortisol levels and regulate circadian rhythms which promote better sleep and help boost serotonin levels, the happy hormone.

Many families across the nation are trying the 1000 hours outside challenge. This is a great challenge if you are looking for a reason to get outside more, which can help improve mood, health and behaviors. I’ve been attempting this challenge, however, I am not the greatest at logging times. BUT, the important thing is to GET OUTSIDE!
